2346 WAGON TRAIN TRAIL

Clad in cedar siding with three roof peaks and views of the Sierras, this one is classic Tahoe.

Montgomery Estates Masterpiece

This 3,300 square foot home set on an up-sloping lot commands attention in one of the most sought after neighborhoods in South Lake Tahoe, Montgomery Estates.

A rock fireplace in the living room, right next to a big sliding glass door that opening onto a deck was the main visual feature of the upstairs living space.

Beyond the living room and kitchen were the master bedroom and office. Downstairs there was another living space, two bedrooms, another bathroom and a laundry room.

Like every Stromberg or Demeo house, this one was “overbuilt,” exceeding engineering requirements but guaranteed to be solid. People wonder what makes a house feel solid, quiet and stable. It’s the sub-floors and the framing. When you walk into any kind of structure, and nothing moves, you feel that solidity and security.

Perhaps the most memorable feature of this house, the entry featured a winding staircase, cut and stack roof and custom extra wide craftsman style door. The finished home was quintessential Tahoe with the craftsman style lines and woodwork that Peter and Louie are know for.

The backyard was terraced with a wood retaining wall and fenced all the way around, creating privacy and usable space.

48 windows filled out the exterior walls and took full advantage of the sun exposure to provide as much natural light as possible. The main living floor being up on the second floor meant the biggest windows, in the living room and master bedroom, would glimpse the Sierra peaks to the West.
